I think right now in this country, we're so divided and we're seeing, you know, less and less empathy and I think this film is a portrait of someone that you see every day.

An intimate stranger, the gas station attendant, the convenience store clerk, the taxi driver.

And this is a chance to get to know that person.

And I think that's something that we just need a lot more of now is, you know, getting to know our neighbors, getting to know each other in this country.

I feel like immigrants often get defined by the jobs that they do.

And I kind of wanted to meet the audience at that place.

But by the end of the film, I wanted them to get to know this person intimately and not just, you know, the portrait of a saint, but someone who makes mistakes, as we all do.

And despite that, you know, this person can still be loved and is worthy of love and of loving.

And it was really important for me to show a full human portrait of someone, you know, of my dad.

Making this film, I realize that, it's really through storytelling it's not through place that creates a sense of security and belonging.

It's really sharing family stories and not just the happy ones.

It's the painful ones.

It's the hard ones.

And those stories are the ones that really create routes to your past, your present and your future.
