In 1831 Nat Turner led a slave revolt that shook the conscience of the nation. While in prison awaiting his execution, Turner dictated his story to attorney Thomas Gray. This 2016 play imagines Turner’s final night in jail, in a meditation on past deeds and future repercussions. Author Nathan Alan Davis joins the cast for a talkback after the reading. Strong language, viewer discretion is advised.
